Owned by Sir Richard Branson, the 1200-acre Son Bunyola estate has long been one of Mallorca’s most exclusive addresses, home to three private villas and the new boutique Son Bunyola Hotel. Set within a renovated 16th-century manor house and surrounded by citrus and olive trees, the hotel showcases local materials, stylish interiors and plenty of original features. The former olive press houses an excellent restaurant, the original defense tower has become a signature suite, and the historic terrace is home to an infinity swimming pool. There are also spa treatment rooms, tennis courts and range of alfresco activities to enjoy – including hiking and biking in the UNESCO-listed Tramuntana Mountains.

Similarly, Pollença Old Town offers ample winding streets and squares that become filled with heavenly symphonies in the summer months, when the annual festival of classical music takes place. It is worth taking the vintage tram ride from the rural town of Soller to Palma, a slow-paced but delightful journey through rolling countryside and the Tramuntana mountains.
